The Bell Inn wouldn’t be complete without the fabulous local staff! Headed up by your Landlord, James (below) and our Head Chef, Richard, we have very hard working, local, kitchen and front of house teams drawn from the Heyfords and the Cherwell Valley in whom we invest a considerable amount of time to train and bring on as the next generation of hospitality professionals…..
James is a hugely experienced Bar Manager with several years in leading London establishments (he won’t tell us which ones in case we find out more about him!) What he doesn’t know about ales, ciders and cellarmanship is probably not worth knowing but he’s modest enough to say he’s always learning!! Having been closely involved locally with Oxfordshire Narrowboats in recent years he has his own boat and also hugely knowledgeable about the canal and local walks – a Landlord and Tourist Information Service all in one! Completely customer-focussed, he’s only happy when you are….
Richard grew up in Lower Heyford and has run his own catering business and shops before emigrating for a time to Malaysia to do the same. He’s ‘come home’ with his family to the area and is passionate about local food wherever possible. We’re very lucky to have him back in Lower Heyford at The Bell – and we hope you will be too!
